     Durg/Raipur, February 06, 2013: Lifer Upendra Singh, a criminal involved in many serious crimes, today ran away from police custody after his gang raided an express train between Durg and Raipur stations in Chhattisgarh.

     Upendra alias Kabraa alias Ramesh Singh, a native of Bihar and a convict of the sensational Jaichand Vaid kidnapping case of Durg district, and his gang members pulled the chain of Jan Satabdi Train after attacking the police party which was escorting him, and entered the engine only to direct both the loco drivers where to stop the train, police sources told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com.

     They get down near the Jain Temple, Kaivalya Dham, and vanished with out any resistance from the escorting party.

     Escorting policemen said the gang used chilli power on their eyes and assaulted them from behind the revolvers before taking away Upendra with them.

     Reports reaching here also said the gang also stopped a car and on gun point took away that vehicle leaving behind its occupants, one Rao family of Raipur city. The car was later on found in Patan road, which was probably abandoned after met with an accident and turned turtle.

     The matter has once again exposed the lax police arrangement.

     Upendra was taken to Durg from Bilaspur for court hearing with lathi wielding policemen, when he was a known criminal not averse to violence.

     Upendra had earlier jumped the 20 feet wall of Durg Central Jail on May 21, 2007 a day before his judgement on the Jaichand Vaid kidnapping case of March 29, 2001.
