Raipur, July 12, 2023: Mohan Markam was today removed from the post of PCC President of Chhattisgarh.
In place of Markam Bastar MP Deepak Baij was today appointed as the new PCC Chief, AICC General Secretary K C Venugopal through a release said.
“The party appreciates the contribution of the outgoing PCC President Mohan Markam, MLA,” the AICC said.
Markam was locked in a battle with the Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and recently even refused to listen to AICC General Secretary in-charge of Chhattisgarh Kumari Selja in work distribution among party office bearers.
Markam a second time MLA from Kondagaon (Tribal) seat of Bastar region is likely to be appointed as a minister in Baghel cabinet.
Deepak Baij was MLA twice and currently MP from Bastar.
Party insiders claimed Baij was a choice of the party high command.
It will be a difficult task for Baij to manage since state assembly election is just after a couple of months.
