Raipur, June 22, 2009: Life in the Maoists areas in Chhattisgarh have grossly been affected due to the naxal sponsored two-day bandh from today against the government action in disturbed Lalgarh area of West Bengal.
Vehicular traffic has totally been disrupted and normal life was affected in interior areas of Bijapur, Kanker Narayanpur, Dantewada, Bastar, Balrampur, Surajpur, Sarguja, Kawardha and Rajnandgaon districts among others due to the naxal call, reports reaching here said.
However, no untoward incidents have been reported from any part of the state on the first day of the bandh, Police officials said.
Meanwhile, the Government of India has warned Chhattisgarh of major naxal strike during the Bandh period of Monday and Tuesday.
The Central has asked Chhattisgarh to remain alert and take all possible steps as the Maoists are planning to attack security forces and strategic installations like Railways and Electricity, Union Home Ministry officials said.
Along with Chhattisgarh, the Maoists have call for a 48-hour bandh in Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa and West Bengal.
