Raipur, June 23, 2009: Normal life was affected for the last two days in Chhattisgarh, but to the respite to the police the state had not witnessed any violence during the two-day bandh call given by the Maoists from yesterday against the police action in the Lalgarh area of West Bengal.
No major incident had been reported during the two-day bandh call of the Maoists from yesterday, police officials said today.
However, life was disturbed in interior areas of Bijapur, Kanker Narayanpur, Dantewada, Bastar, Balrampur, Surajpur, Sarguja, Kawardha and Rajnandgaon districts among others due to the naxal call, reports reaching here said.
The Government of India had expressed apprehension that the Maoists could unleash large scale violence during the Bandh and alerted Chhattisgarh and other states to remain alert during the bandh period.
Along with Chhattisgarh, the Maoists have call for a 48-hour bandh in Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa and West Bengal.
