     Raipur, December 12, 2022: Newly elected Congress MLA from Bhanupratappur Savitri Mandavi today met the Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.

     CM Baghel congratulated Mandavi and expressed hope that the Bhanupratappur area would be more developed under her leadership.

     The Congress government is committed to the development of the tribal, Baghel said adding his government was committed to give 32 per cent reservation to the tribals, for which a bill was passed in the recently held assembly session.

      Savitri Mandavi was elected to the assembly in a by-election held on December 5 after her husband and three times Congress MLA and Deputy Speaker Manoj Singh Mandavi passed away following a massive heart attack on October 16 last.

     Savitri Mandavi defeated her nearest rival Brahmanand Netam of BJP by 21,171 votes in the December 5 election, whose counting took place on December 8, last.

     Mandavi secured 65,479 votes whereas Netam got 44,308 votes.

     However, giving an impressive fight, former IPS Akbar Ram Korram, who was fielded by Sarv Adiwasi Samaj, got 23,417 votes as an independent candidate.
