Raipur, February 19, 2011: After politically successful subsidised rice to poor families, Chhattisgarh government today decided to give subsidised chick pea to the poor in Bastar region of the state.
Five lakh families would be benefitted from the subsidised chick pea scheme, Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh told a meeting of the Bastar and South Area Tribal Development Authority.
The subsidised chick pea would be made available to the poor of the Bastar region through the fair price shops, he said.
Every month one kilogram of chick pea would be given to the family living under the below poverty line, which would help them in combating mal-nutrition, a government statement said.
Highly subsidised rice has yielded politically good result to the BJP government.
