One Woman Dies, 17 Injured in Ropeway Accident at Khallari, Mahasamund

A 28-year-old woman Ayushi, a resident of Raja Talab, Raipur, died, and 17 people were injured in a ropeway accident that occurred around 11:00 AM today at the Khallari Temple area—a renowned tourist and religious site in the Mahasamund district of Chhattisgarh.

     Mahasamund, March 22, 2026: A 28-year-old woman, a resident of Raja Talab, Raipur, died, and 17 people were injured in a ropeway accident that occurred around 11:00 AM today at the Khallari Temple area—a renowned tourist and religious site in the Mahasamund district of Chhattisgarh.

     Officials stated that immediately upon receiving information about the incident, the district administration initiated relief and rescue operations. With the assistance of the administration and local citizens, the injured were promptly evacuated to safety and admitted to the Community Health Center in Bagbahara for treatment.

      Four individuals who sustained critical injuries in the incident have been referred to the District Hospital Mahasamund for advanced medical care.

     According to officials, a team comprising the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDM) Namita Markole, Tehsildar Nitin Thakur, along with personnel from the Police and Revenue departments, arrived at the scene immediately. They coordinated the relief efforts and ensured that prompt medical assistance was provided to the injured.

     Taking serious cognizance of the incident, Mahasamund Collector Vinay Langeh stated that the treatment of the injured remains their top priority.

      He further added that a thorough investigation into the incident would be conducted to ascertain the exact causes behind the accident. Additionally, directives have been issued to accord the highest priority to the treatment, proper care, and necessary assistance for the injured individuals at this time.

     According to Sub-Divisional Officer Namita Markole, the injured individuals include Govind Swami, Namita Swami, and Anshuka Swami (from Mahasamund); Hemlal Nageshwar, Ratan Nageshwar, Hemin, Hulsi, Purvi, Tiya, and Amlesh (from Tikrapara, Raipur); Tomeshwari Sahu, Kumesh Sahu, and Harsh Sahu (from Daldal Seoni, Raipur); and Rishabh Dhavare, Chyansh, and Manasvi (from Raja Talab, Raipur).

     A woman named Ayushi, a resident of Raja Talab, lost her life in this incident, a government statement said.
