Raipur, March 27, 2011: For the first time of its style, the Public Relations Department of Chhattisgarh today organised a workshop for journalists, who are reporting from far off places of the state.
Journalists from Narayanpur, Bijapur to Jashpur and Sarguja had participated in the workshop, which was addressed by eminent journalists, PR experts and political personalities.
The PR Department was planning to take the participating journalists to the Naya Raipur area, including the capital city, Purkhoti Muktangan and the International Cricket Stadium tomorrow.
The participants, numbering over 200 were seen asking the organisers and especially the Additional Director Sukhdev Singh Koreti to organise such workshops at the divisional levels, if not possible at the District levels in the coming days.
Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh, inaugurating the workshop said journalists should adopt decent language and proper words, while drafting their news.
“What you are reporting today would be a vital historical document after a couple of years. So be sincere in choosing your words and languages,” the Chief Minister told the gathering.
Citing the century old rich history of journalism from Chhattisgarh, the Chief Minister said he was happy that the media was sincere in its approach in the state.
He also advised the journalists to report the historical importance or rich heritage of various parts of Chhattisgarh during reporting and said he always derived pleasure in reading such documents from the British raj.
Media was a powerful weapon if used properly, said Principal Secretary PR Department N Baijendra Kumar, quoting Mahatma Gandhi.
A new dialogue process had been started today through the workshop and this process would further be taken to divisional level in the coming days, Baijendra Kumar said.
While Speaker Dharam Lal Kaushik addressed the gathering in the inaugural session, in the second session Agriculture Minister Chandrasekhar Sahu addressed the invited journalists.
