Raipur, July 28, 2024: Ramen Deka, a BJP veteran, was today appointed as the new governor of Chhattisgarh in place of Biswabhushan Harichandan.

The President of India Droupadi Murmu is pleased to appoint Ramen Deka as the Governor of Chhattisgarh, official sources said today.

Born on March 1, 1954 in Sualkuchi Deka was elected to Lok Sabha on a BJP ticket twice.
A former National Secretary of BJP, Deka was also made the BJP state President in 2014.
Deka had served the 15th Lok Sabha, representing the Mangaldoi constituency, in 2009. He again became MP in 2014 from the same Lok Sabha seat, sources said.
Meanwhile, veteran from Chhattisgarh and current Governor of Maharashtra Ramesh Bais is being replaced by C P Radhakrishnan. Radhakrishnan is currently Governor of Jharkhand with Additional Charge of Telangana and he was appointed as the new Governor of Maharashtra.

Former Chhattisgarh BJP in-charge, who was instrumental in victory of the party in 2023 Assembly election, Om Prakash Mathur has been appointed as Governor of Sikkim.
Anusuiya Uikey, a former Governor of Chhattisgarh, who is currently in Manipur, has been replaced. Lakshman Prasad Acharya, Governor of Sikkim, has been appointed as Governor of Assam and has also been given additional charge of the Governor of Manipur.
Meanwhile, the President of India has accepted the resignation of Banwarilal Purohit as Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Union Territory of Chandigarh, a Rashtrapati Bhavan press communique said.
Gulab Chand Kataria, Governor of Assam, is appointed as Governor of Punjab and has also been appointed as Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh also.
The Centre has also made changes and Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde has been appointed as Governor of Rajasthan.
Jishnu Dev Varma is appointed as Governor of Telangana.
Santosh Kumar Gangwar is appointed as Governor of Jharkhand.
C H Vijayashankar is the new Governor of Meghalaya.
The President has also appointed K Kailashnathan, a former IAS, as Lt Governor of Puducherry.
The official order said the appointments will take effect from the dates they will assume charge of their respective offices.
