Raipur, September 22, 2009: Chhattisgarh Government today said it had allotted Rs 120 crore for construction of houses for the poor in underdeveloped districts of the state.
It had been decided to construct 34,485 unit of houses under the Indira Awas Yojana in naxal infested Sarguja, Rajnandgaon, Kanker, Dantewada and Bastar districts, officials said today.
For construction of those houses Rs 120.7 crore has been sanctioned and already Rs 57 crore had been made available to the authorities for speed up the work, they said.
The state had not made any design for construction of such houses but every house should have a carpet area of 20 sq metre.
As per the provision, the beneficiary get Rs 30,000, out of which 50 per cent transferred to his/her bank account and the rest as per the progress of the construction, officials said adding the construction had to be carried out by the beneficiary.
