Baloda Bazar, June 17, 2024: Chhattisgarh government today directed the district administration of Baloda Bazar to speed up the restoration work in the district Collectorate buildings here, which were badly damaged after an unruly mob set on fire the Collectorate and the SP office of Baloda Bazar.
Revenue Minister Tankram Verma and Food and Civil Supply Minister Dayal Das Baghel today visited the Baloda Bazar district collectorate and took stock of the situation after the large scale arsoning on June 10, last.

Baloda Bazar District Collector Deepak Soni and District SP Vijay Agrawal briefed the Ministers about the current situation and took them round of the damaged buildings.
Both the Ministers directed the district administration to speed up the restoration work of the damaged buildings.
The ministers also enquired about the move by the SP Vijay Agrawal to collect the documents of the vehicles, which were damaged in the arsoning, so that they could be compensated through the insurance.
Former MLA from Bhatapara of the district Shiv Ratan Sharma, former Dhamtari MLA Ranjana Sahu, Bilaigarh former MLA Sanam Jangade were also present during the inspection.

On the intervening night of 15 and 16 May, 2024 the Jaitkham the Satnami samaj was damaged by unidentified persons in Amargupha area in Mahkoni of Girodhpuri area in Baloda Bazar district, because of which there was widespread anger among the community members.
Demanding a high level probe into the incident the members of the community staged a demonstration and an unruly mob set on fire the district collectorate and the SP office on June 10, last destroying the entire buildings and many important documents and records.
Following the violence on June 11 both the Collector K L Chouhan and SP Sadanand Kumar were transferred out of the district by the state government.
However, on June 13, 2024 Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai suspended both the IAS Kumar Lal Chouhan and IPS Sadanand Kumar after they failed to stop the large scale arson in Baloda Bazar district collectorate and SP office on June 10 last.
Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai was not happy with the large scale arson in Baloda Bazar and the role of the then District Collector K L Chouhan and SP Sadanand Kumar, official sources had told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com.
“Prima facie it was found that they have not done their duties properly to either on the incident in Girodhpuri area or that to check the violence in Baloda Bazar district headquarters,” the sources said.
Because of dereliction of duty, both the then Collector and the SP were placed under suspension today with immediate effect on order of the Chief Minister, the sources added.
Meanwhile, the state government had on June 13 appointed retired Justice C B Bajpai as the head of the judicial commission to probe the incident in Amargupha incident of Baloda Bazar district.
The Judicial commission will submit its report within three months, official sources said.
