Raipur, November 04, 2022: Chhattisgarh government so far procured nearly 70 thousand tons of paddy from the registered farmers of the state, official sources said today.
The paddy procurement process was started from November 1, 2022 and would continue till January 31, 2023, officials said.
In the last four days, till November 4, about 69 thousand 783 tons of paddy had been purchased from the farmers of the state, they said.
Today alone 23 thousand 89 tons of paddy were procured on minimum support price, the officials said.
So far 25,493 farmers have sold their produces to the state government.
Food Secretary Topeshwar Verma said this season the state government has fixed a target to procure about 1.10 crore tons of paddy from 25.92 lakh registered farmers.
This year about 1.86 lakh new farmers have added their names in the registrar to sell their paddy.
For a better and with ease procurement, the state government has set up 2497 procurement centres in the state, Verma said.
This season the state government is paying Rs 2040 per quintal for normal grade and for Grade-A paddy it has fixed the rate as Rs 2060 per quintal.
