Raipur, February 24, 2009: The Election Commission of India today, just days ahead of the announcement of Lok Sabha schedule, appointed senior IAS officer Sunil Kumar Kujur as the Chief Electoral Officer of Chhattisgarh.

The Election Commission of India has communicated to the Government of Chhattisgarh about the clearance of the name of Kujur as the CEO and a formal order would be issued any time by the state of his posting, Election Commission sources told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com.

The Commission, however, has stated that Kujur would not have any responsibility other than the post of CEO till the further order.

After a bureaucratic reshuffle, the Water Resources, Technical Education, Manpower, Science and Technology Departments of Kujur had been given to other IAS officers by the Chief Secretary P Joy Oommen late yesterday night.

Kujur would take the place of his batch mate Dr Alok Shukla, who was CEO from January 28, 2006 to February 2, 2009.

After Shukla was appointed as the Deputy Election Commissioner of India, he had given his charges to Joint CEO Gaurav Dwivedi before proceeding to Delhi and Kujur would now take charges from Dwivedi.
