Dantewada, April 26, 2023: Maoists today triggered a land mine blast killing 10 police jawans and a civilian driver in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh.
While returning from a combing operation, Maoists targeting jawans triggered a land mine blast in Aranpur police station area of Dantewada district, Bastar Range IG P Sunder Raj said.
In the blast of improvised explosive device (IED) 10 jawans of the District Reserve Guard or DRG were killed, Bastar IG said.
One civilian driver was also killed, Sunder Raj confirmed.
In fact ignoring the standard operating procedure the jawans were travelling in a vehicle while in naxal operation and the Maoists carried out the blast in a well build road, police sources said.
The impact of the blast was so strong that the explosion had created a crater of about 8 feet on the high way.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has expressed his deep sorrow over the death of jawans and said the entire state is with the families of the martyrs.
