Bilaspur, November 05, 2025: Eleven people have been killed and at least 20 injured after a passenger train and a coal laden goods train collided in Bilaspur district of Chhattisgarh, a senior Railways official said today.
“11 passengers were killed and 20 people are injured in the Tuesday train accident,” a senior official of the South East Central Railway (SECR) said.
The injured, including 8 women, are admitted in various local hospitals of Bilaspur, he said.
The incident took place near Bilaspur district headquarters under the Bilaspur SECR Railway Zone.
“Detailed inquiry will be conducted at the level of Commissioner Railway Safety (CRS) to ascertain the cause of accident, the official said.
The local passenger train hit a coal laden goods train from behind yesterday about 4 PM, and severely damaged its engine and a passenger coach. At least four trapped passengers were rescued after separating the coach through gas cutter, which was badly damaged.
Meanwhile, both the up and down lines are restored for train traffic.
