Raipur, December 31, 2008: Raipur is producing 125 MW of energy from rice bran every day.
Currently five such plants are working in Raipur district, which are producing 125 megawatt of electricity every day, officials said.
In Tilda, Simga, Rajim, Siltara and Jarounda areas the rice bran plants have been producing powers, they said.
Meanwhile, the Raipur District Collector Subodh Kumar Singh has directed the managements of such plants to produce power uninterruptedly but stick to the rules of pollution control and other laws.
Looking into the huge production of paddy in Chhattisgarh, non-conventional way to produce power has been encouraged by the state government and as a part of that rice bran power plants had been set up in Raipur, they said.
To produce power, 15 to 30 per cent coal is added to rice bran and 15 cubic metre of water is required to produce every unit of power, they said.
