Mandir Hasoud (Raipur), December 27, 2008: Creating a sensation, twelve live rockets with 18 km range of defence force were today recovered in the premises of the Monnet Steel and Energy Limited here in Mandir Hasoud area of Raipur district in Chhattisgarh.
Similarly two rockets were also found in a box in Mandhar area of Raipur district taking the total recovery to 14 rockets, police sources told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com.
Primary data revealed that each rockets are of 15.730 kg and all the explosives are said to be of medium range projectile rockets having a range of 18 km each.
The rockets are used by various armies in South Asia region and are of high grade explosive of 105 MM used in artillery gun on the enemies, the experts said.
Bhogra Bai, Jagdish Bagh and Ranjit Singh Rajput, all labourers, told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com that they saw six boxes laying on the top of the minerals of a wagon when they went for unloading, which was a part of a goods train of mineral meant for Monnet.
“On opening one of the boxes we found some bomb type materials and informed our contractor,” they said.
Contractor Deoraj Baghel also said when he saw the explosive materials immediately informed the railway police.
Raipur District Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar also told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com that the consignment of minerals had been received from Aditya Birla group of mines in Badbil area of Keonjhar district in Orissa.
It was immediately not known who had dispatched the consignment or for whom but bomb disposal team had been pressed into services for the high grade explosives and investigation had also been started.
Meanwhile, new Raipur District Collector Subodh Kumar Singh visited the spot and personally checked the rockets and asked the police to conduct a thorough probe.
