18 Maoists with Top Commander killed in Chhattisgarh

At least 18 Maoists have been killed in an encounter that was started yesterday and continued till today in Bijapur-Dantewada border of Chhattisgarh, a top police officer said today.

     Raipur, December 04, 2025: At least 18 Maoists have been killed in an encounter that was started yesterday and continued till today in Bijapur-Dantewada border of Chhattisgarh, a top police officer said today.

     “Bodies of 18 Maoists, including nine women, have been seized during search operation,” Bijapur District Superintendent of Police Dr Jitendra Yadav said.

     “Among the killed are Commander of People’s Liberation Guerilla Army (PLGA) Company number 02 Vella Modium, who was carrying a reward of Rs 10 lakh on his head and Rainu Oyam and Sannu Avalam both were carrying a reward of Rs 8 Lakh each,” Yadav said.

     On specific information of the presence of a large number of Maoists, police raided the forest of Kachilwar-Potenar forest area in Dantewada-Bijapur district.

     The gun battle was started about 9 AM yesterday and continued till 8 AM today, the Superintendent of Police said.

     During the search operation bodies of 18 Maoists, and a huge cache of arms and ammunition and explosive materials were recovered, he said.

     One Light Machine Gun (LMG), four AK-47, four Self Loaded Rifles (SLR) one INSAS (Indian Small Arms System) and two .303 rifles, two Barrel Grenade Launcher (BGL) were also recovered, he said.

     In the operation three security forces were killed and two sustained bullet injuries, the police officer said.
