Raipur, April 09, 2014: A day ahead of Parliamentary election in Bastar Lok Sabha seat, Maoists have attacked security forces in two places today and killed three commandos and injured six security personnel, police official said.
Police also claimed in the gun battle Security forces had also killed some Maoists.
“In a gun battle with the Maoists, three commandos of the Central Para Military forces were killed in Chintagufa area,” Chief of Anti-Maoist operation in Chhattisgarh, Rajinder Kumar Vij said here.
“It was a fierce gun battle and in the returned fire some of the Maoists have also been killed,″ Vij said.
In that incident three security personnel were also injured, he said.
The incident took place near Chintagufa when the elite forces were returning to their base after escorting a polling party to the nearby booth for Thursday parliamentary election, the senior Police officer said.
Chintagufa is located c lose to Darbha ghati, where Maoists on last May 25 massacred many top Congress leaders in a daring attack. Chintagufa falls under Sukma district.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident three security personnel of the same Central Para Military forces were injured when they came in contact with a pressure mine in Bijapur district of the same south of Chhattisgarh.
″The forces were on an area domination operation when they came in contact with a pressure mine in Kikler area of Bijapur district,″ Vij said.
″Two of the forces have sustained serious injuries in that incident and are being evacuated for further treatment,″ the head of anti-Maoist operation said.
Bastar Lok Sabha seat is going to poll tomorrow and Maoists have a huge presence in almost entire Lok Sabha area.
