     Jagdalpur, December 26, 2011: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh today announced to make seven rainfall deficit blocks of Bastar district as drought hit.

     Addressing a public meeting near here Singh announced various projects worth Rs 50 crore for Bastar district during his day long visit of the region.

     Bastar, Makdi, Keshkal, Lohandiguda, Tokapal, Bastanar and Pharasgaon blocks of Bastar district would soon be declared drought-hit, the Chief Minister also said.

     The Chief Minister was earlier informed by the local people’s representatives and officials that scanty rainfall has adversely affected agriculture production in the seven blocks of Bastar district.

     The Chief Minister had also launched the distribution of 2.63 lakh mosquito nets to the locals to save them from the killer fever Malaria.
