Raipur, April 30, 2010: Seven passengers were killed today and about 30 injured, seven of them seriously, when a bus and a matador collided head on in the Raipur Bilaspur road, police said.
All the seven passengers were killed on the spot when both the vehicles collided and the passenger bus rolled down to the road side, police said.
The accident took place near Saddu village of the Raipur-Bilaspur road, they said.
In that incident about 30 of the passengers were also injured, they added.
On hearing the incident, the Chief minister Dr Raman Singh also rushed to the Raipur Medical College Hospital and promised to provide all assistance to the injured.
The Chief Minister also sanctioned a compensation of Rs one lakh to next to the family of the deceased, Rs 50,000 to seriously injured and Rs 10,000 to other injured persons, a government statement said.
