Raipur, January 06, 2025: Eight security personnel and a civilian driver were killed today as Maoists triggered a powerful landmine blast targeting their vehicle in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh.
After a successful operation in Abujhmad area when the forces were returning back, Maoists targeting the security forces triggered an improvised explosive device (IED), police said.
In the powerful blast eight personnel from the District Reserve Guard and a civilian driver of the vehicle, in which they were travelling in, were killed on the spot, police added.
The blast was so powerful that the vehicle was ripped apart, they said.
The incident took place near Ambeli village of Kutru police station area in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh. Only yesterday the forces had shot dead 5 Maoists, including two women cadre, in the Abujhmad area of Bastar region. After the successful operation when they were returning back the explosion took place.
