Raipur, April 14, 2026: In a major incident, nine workers were killed and 15 seriously injured when the boiler of a private power plant exploded in Sakti district of Chhattisgarh, Industry Minister said.
“24 workers of the Vedanta power plant, were seriously affected when a boiler exploded today,“ Chhattisgarh Industry Minister Lakhanlal Dewangan told reporters.
Quoting Initial reports Minister Dewangan said out of the 24 affected workers, nine are dead and 15 are currently under treatment.
The minister blamed the private power plant for the incident saying it seems incident took place because of the neglect of the company.
However, the Sakti district collector has been asked to thoroughly enquire into the incident, he said.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai spoken to the Sakti district administration where the Vedanta power plant is located in Singhitarai area of the district.
The district administration has been already engaged in the rescue operation, the chief Minister said.
Stern action will be taken against the people who are responsible for today’s incident, the chief minister said.
