Chief Minister Sai Orders Inquiry into Vedanta Power Plant Accident

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai today expressed deep anguish over the boiler explosion at the Vedanta Power Plant in Singhitarai, Sakti district, which resulted in the deaths of at least 9 labourers and 15 injured.

     Raipur, April 14, 2026: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai today expressed deep anguish over the boiler explosion at the Vedanta Power Plant in Singhitarai, Sakti district, which resulted in the deaths of at least 9 labourers and 15 injured.  

     Describing the incident as extremely distressing and heart-wrenching, the Chief Minister paid tribute to the deceased and conveyed his deepest condolences to the bereaved families.

     Sai stated that the news of the labourers’ death and the injuries sustained by many in this accident is profoundly distressing.

     He prayed to God to grant peace to the departed souls and to give their families the strength to bear this unbearable grief.

     The Chief Minister noted that immediately upon receiving information about the incident, the district administration was directed to rush to the site and commence relief and rescue operations. Currently, relief work is being conducted rapidly under the supervision of the administration, and prompt, adequate medical care is being provided to the injured.

     Sai has directed officials to ensure that there are no lapses in the treatment of the injured and to guarantee that superior medical facilities are made available as required. Furthermore, he expressed his wishes for the speedy recovery of the injured.

     The Chief Minister also stated that a thorough and impartial inquiry into this accident will be conducted. He asserted that strict action will be taken against anyone found guilty during the investigation.

     Sai has issued directives to review all necessary safety protocols to prevent the recurrence of such incidents in the future and to ensure the strict adherence to safety standards within industrial units.
