Raipur, August 19, 2008: After Chhattisgarhi language was given the status of Raj Bhasha in Chhattisgarh, the state government has demanded before the Centre to broadcast news bulletins in local Chhattisgarhi language in All India Radio-Raipur.
Chhattisgarhi has become an official language in the state hence a news bulletin of the same language be broadcast from the Raipur Radio Station, Chairman of the Chhattisgarhi Rajbhasha Ayog (Chhattisgarhi Language Commission) Shyam Lal Chaturvedi told the Centre.
The state government had given official status to Chhattisgarhi language and formed a Commission also to establish that language, Chaturvedi said in a recent letter to the Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Das Munshi.
Requesting the Central Minister to have news in the local language in the All India Radio-Raipur, the state official said let the bulletin be of five minutes in the initial stage.
Recently the state BJP government had given the Chhattisgarhi language an official status through legislation in the state assembly to enable the common men to use their language in official works.
