Kawardha, June 04, 2010: A great follower of Swamy Vivekanand, Vighna Haran Singh, father of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh, was today consigned to flame in an emotionally charged atmosphere.
Singh died earlier in the day at the Chief Minister Residence after a brief illness.
After taking the body by road from Raipur to Kawardha, in the presence of a huge gathering, Singh was consigned to flame by his son Anand Singh, in the presence of Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh, his brother Ashok Singh, son Abhishek and other nears and dears.
Born on January 02, 1923 at Thathapur of the present Kawardha district, Singh was a practicing lawyer from 1957 to 1984, before getting into social works.
Singh, who has three sons and four daughters, had lost his wife last year.
