Raipur, August 30, 2010: An honest police officer Arun Dev Gautam was today appointed as the new Inspector General of Police of Bilaspur range.
Home Minister Nanki Ram Kanwar this evening confirmed to ChhattisgarhTopnews.Com the name of Gautam as the new IGP Bilaspur.
Since the current IG Ramesh Chandra Sharma is retiring on August 31, a fresh posting was necessitated.
Known as a green police officer for his special efforts towards plantation, Sharma was appointed the IGP Bilaspur on September 10, 2008.
The decision of the Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh to post Gautam has surprised many since the Bilaspur IG post had been converted into a place for promoted officers for a quite longer period.
Since Gautam refused to listen to a couple of the people during the Kota by election, he was transferred immediately from Bilaspur as the SP after Renu Jogi of Congress own the poll during the first tenure of Raman Government.
But the people of Bilaspur have expressed pleasure over the choice saying looking into the law and order situation there was every need of a sincere police officer.
Also talking to the ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com Gautam said establishing the rule of law would be his priority and also he would try to boost the morale further of the local police in maintaining the law and order situation.
