Raipur, September 15, 2008: Creating a history, Umesh Dwivedi was today made the Director Public Relations of Chhattisgarh.
A state government order said today Dwivedi, an Additional Director, has been entrusted the works of Director Public Relations of the Government of Chhattisgarh.
This posting has much of importance as for the first time in the history of Chhattisgarh a non IAS officer has been made in-charge of the Directorate of Public Relations.
When Raman Singh became the Chief Minister on December 7, 2003, his Secretary Vivek Dhand, than Secretary public Relations, had attempted to make his loyal official Anil Tuteja as the Director Public Relations.
But not only the department people, but also the cadre people had opposed that saying a non-IAS can not become the head of DPR as that was a cadre post for IAS, but after four years the same was allowed with out any objection.
Meanwhile, the state government had promoted Sukhdev Singh Koreti and Shubhash Mishra as the Additional Directors in the PR Department and posted Koreti as the Additional Chief Executive Officer (ACEO) when Mishra is functioning as the Managing Director of the Text Book Corporation, while on deputation.
With the promotion of Koreti as the Additional CEO, Deputy Director D N Pujari has been made the General Manager of the Sambad, an associate organisation of the Public Relations Department, the post earlier occupied by Koreti.
