Dantewada, October 7, 2011: At least three security personnel of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) were killed in a daring ambush by the Maoists on the National Highway 16 in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh.
“Three security personnel of the Sashastra Seema Bal were killed and one seriously injured in an ambush in near Bastanar hilly pass of Dantewada district, about 35 Km from here,” police sources told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com here.
The incident took place on the National Highway 16, that connects Jagdalpur with Secundarabad of Andhra Pradesh.
After triggering a powerful land mine blast, the Maoists also opened indiscriminate firing on the convoy of three security vehicles and the security forces returned matching fire the gun battle lasted for about an hour this morning, they said.
Of the three, only one vehicle came in contact with the land mine, they said adding the incident took place when the SSB personnel were proceeding towards North East border of the Country for re-deployment.
