Bilaspur, October 18, 2008: Former Chief Justice of Chhattisgarh High Court Justice H L Dattu would be the Supreme Court judge.
Justice Dattu had become the Chief Justice of Chhattisgarh on February 12, 2007 and later on transferred to Kerala High Court on May 18, 2007 as Chief Justice.
Along with him, the names of Justices A K Ganguli and R M Lodha were reportedly been cleared by the Supreme Court collegium for elevation as the judges of the Apex Court.
Born on December 3, 1950 and enrolled as an advocate on October 23, 1975 Justice Dattu had practiced at Bangalore in Civil, Criminal, Constitutional and Taxation matter.
He had also worked as a High Court Government Pleader for Sales Tax Department from 1983 to 1990, Government Advocate from 1990 to 1993, Standing Counsel for Income Tax Department from 1992 to 1993 and Senior Standing Counsel for Income Tax Department from 1993 to 1995.
He was appointed as Judge of the High Court of Karnataka on December 18, 1995 and appointed as Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court on February 12, 2007.
