Raipur, September 24, 2012: After a steep hike in diesel price, the BJP government in Chhattisgarh today hiked the bus fare by ten per cent.
A Cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh, after a detailed deliberation approved a proposal to increase the bus fare after the Congress led government at the Centre increased the prices by Rs 5 per litre on diesel last week.
However, Bus Owner Association has dismissed the new fare saying it was insufficient.
Before the Centre could increase the diesel price, the Association had demanded before the state government to increase the fare by ten per cent which was agreed upon by Transport Minister Rajesh Munat, Association leader Pramod Dubey said.
In the meanwhile, the Centre had hiked the diesel price and looking into the current situation, the increase in fare by a mere 10 per cent was insufficient and unacceptable, Dubey said.
