Raipur, December 08, 2012: Congress today supported the agitation by over one lakh teachers of Chhattisgarh and opposed any move by the state BJP government to suppress that stir.
“Congress strongly condemns the move to crush the democratic agitation of the Sikshya karmis (teachers),” PCC Chief Spokesman Shailesh Nitin Trivedi said here.
BJP returned to power through fake promises to the government employees and now the same employees could over throw the government for not fulfilling their promises, Trivedi stated.
BJP had promised the Sikshya karmis for merger and to provide them equal pay in its election manifesto in 2003 and 2008, and now the same party Government was using police against the agitation, he said.
“The agitation places of the sikshya karmis are being demolished, they are subjected to mass suspension and being threatened of dismissal,” Trivedi said.
The Congress also demanded the State government to fulfill the demands for the better future of both the students and the teachers.
Having disappointed over the non-fulfilment of their demands, the teachers have gone on an indefinite strike from December 03, 2012.
They have been demanding salary as per Sixth Pay Commission among others.
