Raipur, October 24, 2008: Opposition parties today complaint to the Central Election Commission that the State Raman Singh Government was grossly involved in violation of model code of conduct during the November Assembly election.
BJP candidate from Khujji Jamuna Devi Thakur’s husband was working as a government employee in the same area of Rajnandgaon district, who should immediately be shifted, the Left parties today told the Central Election Commission.
During a meeting with Chief Election Commissioner N Gopalaswami and Election Commissioners Navin B Chawla and S Y Qureshi various leaders have expressed apprehension of a free and fair poll in the naxal affected areas.
Congress leaders complaint that Minister Brij Mohan Agrawal had openly violated the poll conduct and hosted a party at his official residence here and also several of his hoardings are still displayed in many places along with other leaders of the ruling BJP and the Election Commission should immediately take action against that.
BSP drew the attention of the Commission of the difficulties they had faced during elections and said they were stopped from filing nominations by the major political parties in the previous polls, which should not happen.
The BSP also said names of several Muslim citizens were deliberately deleted from the Electoral rolls in Raipur and Bilaspur districts.
Meanwhile, BJP leaders also met the Election Commission and complaint that the Congress party was involved in personal allegations and staging picketings and rallies when those were violation of the model code of conduct.
The ruling party also requested the Commission to conduct free and fair poll in the state, when their own party government was in the state for the last five years.
