Raipur, November 11, 2008: Centre today said Chhattisgarh should order a probe into the yesterday’s incident in which Maoists ambushed the Sarguja Range Inspector General of Police B S Maravi.
Chhattisgarh police should probe, in which condition the IG was injured and should also strengthen its intelligence network, Union Minister of state for Home Sri Prakash Jaiswal told reporters here.
BJP came to power in the state in 2003 election with two slogans – against corruption and naxalism, but today in both the things Chhattisgarh was ahead of many other states, he said.
Chhattisgarh was the most corrupt state in the country and when the Ministers are involved in corruption how could one expect the bureaucrats to remain honest, the senior Congress leader claimed.
Naxal activities have also increased 2.5 fold in the last five years when the state had been provided 17 battalions of CRPF, the Union Minister said.
If Chhattisgarh wanted to root out naxalism from the state then it should go to Hyderabad and learnt how Andhra Pradesh had solved it by 80 per cent, Jaiswal said adding if Congress comes to power in this assembly election than both the issues of naxalism and corruption would be solved with out any delay.
