Raipur, March 17, 2023: Chhattisgarh Cabinet, presided over by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, today approved the draft bill for protection of media persons in the state.
The draft of Chhattisgarh Media persons Protection Bill 2023 was today approved by the Cabinet, official sources said here.
The Congress party had promised during the electioneering to 2018 assembly polls to provide legal protection to the media persons against any violence.
Raipur Press Club President Damu Ambedare has thanked the Chief Minister for the draft bill saying it was a long pending demand of the journalists.
The state government was sympathetic towards the media and after increasing the pension from Rs 5000 to Rs 10,000 per month the state government today took the steps to approve the draft bill to protect the media persons in the state, Ambedare said.
