Raipur, February 19, 2024: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today inaugurated 211 PM SHRI schools in Chhattisgarh state, in the presence of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai and Education Minister Brij Mohan Agrawal.
Praising the Chief Minister Sai for keeping education on the top of agenda of the state government, Union Minister Pradhan assured all assistance to the state on the education sector.

PM Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) is a centrally sponsored scheme to establish over 14,500 Schools, overseen by the Central Government, State/UT Governments, local bodies, as well as Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS).
These schools aim to create an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere for every student, ensuring their well-being and providing a secure and enriching learning environment. The goal is to offer a diverse range of learning experiences and ensure access to good physical infrastructure and appropriate resources for all students, official sources said.
As per the New Education Policy 2020, students up to class 8th would be provided education in their mother tongue and local languages and to achieve this, the Government of India would soon start channels; Pradhan said adding this will also cater to the need of Chhattisgarhi language along with Halbi, Gondi, Bhatri and Surgujiya.
In the new education policy special emphasis has been given to skill development and technology, Minister Pradhan said.
Chhattisgarh should start preparation for 2036 Olympic and target for medals, the Union Education Minister said adding every school should have play grounds and sports activities.

Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the PM SHRI schools for Chhattisgarh and said his government is giving lot of emphasis on quality education.
The state government has also made budgetary allocation for appointment of 33 thousand teachers, he said.
School Education Minister Brij Mohan Agrawal said the state government wanted to introduce multi-language education system as advised under the New Education Policy.
Agrawal also urged Union Minister Pradhan to include more and more schools of the state under the PM SHRI scheme.
In the next 5 years 25 thousand schools of the state would be upgraded as the smart schools, School Education Minister Agrawal said.
The state government also wanted to give free of cost school bag, shoes and socks to the students of the primary and middle schools located in interior areas, he said.
About 10 thousand schools are in dilapidated conditions and the state wanted to construct new building in their places, Agrawal said and sought central assistance for that from union Education Minister.
