New Delhi, March 12, 2024: Haryana state BJP President Nayab Singh Saini will replace Manohar Lal Khattar as the Chief Minister of Haryana, who had resigned earlier in the day.
The Kurukshetra Lok Sabha MP Saini was elected unanimously as the leader of the state BJP legislature party and will be sworn in later in the day, sources said.
Saini is a low profile OBC leader, who will replace BJP strongman Khattar just before the announcement of the Lok Sabha election.
The 54 year old OBC leader rose through the ranks in the party and was unanimously elected as the leader of the state BJP’s legislature party at a meeting held at Chandigarh today.
Saini is considered as a confidante of Khattar and every likely under his leadership Haryana will go to assembly poll in October.
Media reports said the announcement of Nayab Singh Saini as next chief minister of Haryana was sudden and unexpected. But it had the same element of surprise as in 2014 when the name of Manohar Lal Khattar was announced.
