Raipur, December 18, 2008: In a blow to Ajit Jogi, Congress high command today appointed Ravindra Choubey as the Leader of Opposition and Ram Pukar Singh as the Deputy Opposition Leader.
AICC President Sonia Gandhi today cleared the name of Choubey and Singh, PCC President Dhanendra Sahu told reporters here.
It was a set back to Jogi as his followers had launched a campaigned to make him the Leader of the Congress Legislature Party, which was rejected by Gandhi.
Even 28 MLAs had handed over a memorandum to Congress leadership demanding Jogi to be made the Leader of Opposition.
On the other hand Ram Pukar Singh is backed by anti Jogi camp led by PCC Executive President Charan Das Mahant.
Meanwhile, Choubey said he and his party legislatures would provide a constructive and positive support to the BJP government in the state assembly but its wrong doings would not be tolerated.
