Dehradun/New Delhi, April 27, 2024: A massive fire broke out in Nainital jungle in Uttarakhand, posing a threat to the High Court residential colony and nearby areas.
The fire that broke out in the forest near Nainital district headquarters has taken a horrific form and gutted over hundred hectares of forest land, various media reported.
After the forest fire reached close to the Air Force Station near the Nanda range, Indian Air Force has deployed a helicopter to douse the fire, the reports said.
After the state forest department sent SOS, the Army too has deployed two columns to fight the fire in Kumaon, it said.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has stated that the government is working hard to control it and help from the Army has also been sought.
