Raipur, April 30, 2024: At least seven Maoists were shot dead today by the security forces in the forest of Abujhmad area, close to Maharashtra, a top official said.
“Bodies of seven Maoists have been recovered after an encounter today,” Bastar range Inspector General of Police P Sunderraj said.
Among the killed are two women cadres, he said.
A sophisticated AK-47 rifle, huge cache of arms, ammunition, explosives and other materials have also been recovered during the search operation after the gun battle, the Bastar IGP said.
Giving details, he said on specific information a joint police party of Special Task Force and District Reserve Guard raided the jungle between Tekmeta and Kakoor, in Narayanpur district of Bastar region of Chhattisgarh.
After a fierce gun battle bodies of seven Maoists, including two women, were recovered during the search operation, Sunderraj said adding the bodies are being identified.
Search is still continuing in the forest, he added.
