Raipur, August 28, 2024: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai today announced an ambitious scheme of interest free loans to the children of families from weaker sections in the Maoist affected districts to provide them better opportunities for technical and professional educations.
Chief Minister Sai has given instructions to the officials to ensure giving benefit to maximum number of students in these districts under the ‘Mukhyamantree Uchcha Shiksha Rin Vyaj Anudan Yojana’ (Chief Minister Higher Education Loan Interest Subsidy Scheme’.
The Chief Minister has also asked the officials to run a special campaign for this.
Sai has also given instructions to the collectors of other districts of the state to provide the benefit of loan facility being given at one per cent interest rate for technical and professional higher education to children of families from the weaker sections of the society.
Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma informed that the Technical Education Department has been made the nodal department for the operation of the CM Higher Education Loan Interest Subsidy Scheme.
A total 35 technical and other professional courses under the diploma, graduation and post-graduation levels have been included under this scheme.
The maximum limit of education loan for interest subsidy in the scheme is Rs. 4 lakh.
Under the Interest Subsidy Scheme, students enrolled in technical education and other vocational education courses, whose families’ annual income is less than 2 lakhs, will be charged interest at the rate of only one per cent in case of regular payment of loan installments after the moratorium period.
The remaining interest amount will be paid by the state government directly to the concerned bank.
However, students from Maoist affected districts of Jashpur, Sarguja, Korea, Balrampur, Rajnandgaon, Balod, Dhamtari, Mahasamund, Gariaband, Bastar, Kondagaon, Kanker, Narayanpur, Dantewada, Bijapur and Sukma districts will get interest-free loan.
To avail the benefits of this scheme, the student should be a domicile of Chhattisgarh as per the prescribed conditions. Admission should be done in a course established in the state of Chhattisgarh and recognized by the competent authority (such as AICTE, UGC). The maximum family income should be Rs 2 lakh, which should be certified by an income certificate issued by the competent authority.
The maximum limit of education loan for interest subsidy under the scheme is Rs 4 lakh. Regular payment of loan installments is mandatory to avail the benefit of interest subsidy. Drop out and expelled students will not be entitled to be beneficiaries of this scheme, but eligibility will remain in case of interruption in studies for a maximum limit of one year due to medical reasons.
The benefit of the scheme can be availed for studying in the courses of BE/BTech, ME, MTech, D Arch, Agriculture Engineering, MCA, MBA, DE, BPEd, MPEd, PGDCA, BHMS, BAMS, BNYS, BNS, BUMS, VFSC, BTech Dairy, B.Agri, BDS, MDS, MBBS, BVSc, BSc Nursing Basic and Post Basic, B. Pharma, M Pharma, D Pharma, Diploma in Modern Office Management, Diploma in Interior Decoration and Design, Diploma in Costume Design and Dress Making, B.Ed, D.Ed and M.Ed.
