Raipur, January 1, 2009: In a step towards privatisation, the state BJP government has unbundled the profit making Chhattisgarh State Electricity Board into five companies.
For dealing with various activities and develop expertise, the generation to trading all sectors have been divided into five companies by the state government, officials said.
From today the CSEB has been split into Chhattisgarh State Power Holding Company Limited, Chhattisgarh State Power Transmission Company Limited, Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited, Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Limited and Chhattisgarh State Power Trading Company Limited.
The state government had also appointed Chief Secretary P Joy Oommen as the Chairman of all the five companies, they said.
Looking into the World Bank interest and the Centre’s pressure for unbundling, many experts said the unbundling of CSEB is a step towards privatisation of the profit making
Public Sector of the state.
