Raipur, August 11, 2026: Chhattisgarh’s Deputy Chief Minister-Home Vijay Sharma conducted a detailed review of the progress regarding the assistance and facilities being provided to families affected by Naxal violence, rehabilitated youths, and those impacted by Maoist activities.
During a meeting held yesterday in Nava Raipur, Sharma instructed officials to take time-bound action on various matters, including ensuring that affected families receive the benefits of government schemes, integrating rehabilitated youths into the social mainstream, constructing memorials in honour of martyrs, and expediting the resolution of pending cases.
The meeting reviewed the status of assistance and facilities being provided to Naxal-affected families and rehabilitated youths. Deputy Chief Minister Sharma inquired about the progress regarding compassionate appointments and government employment for the families of martyrs. Officials reported that compassionate appointments have been provided to 100 per cent of the martyrs’ families.
Expressing satisfaction with this achievement, the Deputy Chief Minister stated that the government’s responsibility towards the families of martyrs is a top priority and that it must be ensured they do not face any difficulties.
He also directed that the SIB (Special Intelligence Bureau) dashboard be updated regularly to enable effective monitoring of the actual and current status of cases concerning Naxal-affected families, rehabilitated individuals, and assistance-related matters.
The Deputy Chief Minister reviewed the progress of the 109 martyrs’ memorials being constructed at incident sites or in relevant villages to honour the security personnel and civilians who lost their lives in Maoist violence since the state’s formation. He instructed officials to prepare a standard design for these memorials and ensure the construction work is completed promptly.
He remarked that these martyrs’ memorials would not merely be sites of remembrance but would also serve as a medium to acquaint future generations with the sacrifices made by the martyrs and the incidents of Naxal violence. QR codes will be installed at these memorials; scanning them will provide the public with detailed information about the specific martyr, the incident, and their contribution.
Sharma reviewed cases of casualties resulting from Naxal violence, dating back to the state’s formation, where relief has not yet reached the affected families. He directed officials to identify all such cases, launch a special drive to collect applications from the affected individuals, and ensure that eligible beneficiaries receive government assistance and relief.
He emphasized that no eligible family affected by Naxal violence should be deprived of government assistance. To this end, he instructed that pending cases be resolved through active engagement at the field level.
The Deputy Chief Minister also reviewed cases concerning rehabilitated youths. He directed that, with the exception of serious matters such as UAPA violations or cases involving loss of life, other cases should be addressed seriously and resolved expeditiously. He ordered the formation of a team comprising professional advocates, public prosecutors, and government counsel to ensure effective action on all such cases.
He also called for the completion of a categorization process for all cases to ensure that further action aligns with the specific nature of each case, thereby sparing eligible rehabilitated youths from facing unnecessarily prolonged procedures.
The process of naming schools, intersections, and government buildings—aimed at honouring martyrs and keeping their memory alive—was also reviewed. The Deputy Chief Minister directed officials to immediately secure departmental clearances where required, expedite the process, and complete the naming formalities as soon as possible.
