Raipur, January 3, 2009: Only seven boxes of rockets were missing from the train that was going from Orissa to Maharashtra, officials said today.
From Badmal Ordnance Factory in Orissa the rockets were booked in 900 boxes in each wagon and after detailed verifications it was found that in one wagon there were 893 boxes of rockets, Central officials told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com.
A total of 14 rockets, packed in seven boxes were found from two places from Raipur district and only after that it was revealed that some munitions were missing from the train and a detailed verification confirmed that only seven boxes were missing, they said.
The rockets were recovered on December 27, last from Mandir Hasoud and Mandhar areas of Raipur, the officials said adding the 105 MM high grade explosives are used in medium range Bofors guns.
A consignment of rockets was going from Badmal Ordnance Factory in Orissa to Maharashtra and in between it landed in wrong hand, they said adding the incident has also exposed the security arrangements of both the Railway police and that of Chhattisgarh Police.
