New Delhi, December 9, 2024: Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs and Bilaspur Lok Sabha MP Tokhan Sahu today met Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu and discussed the expansion of Bilaspur Airport.

The main focus of the meeting was to expand the airport runway from the current 3C category to 4C category and establish night landing facilities, so that air connectivity for the Bilaspur region can be significantly improved, official sources said today.
Bilaspur Airport will give access to air travel services to about half the population of the region and will promote economic development in the region, Sahu said.

The upgradation from 3C to 4C category airport will increase its operational capacity and the introduction of night landing facilities will further increase the capacity of the airport, ensuring more convenient flight options for passengers and better overall service to the people of Chhattisgarh, he stressed.
In response, the Civil Aviation Minister assured Sahu of his full support for the proposed expansion of Bilaspur Airport.
He acknowledged the importance of these facilities for the region and assured that the necessary steps would be taken to allocate the required funds and expedite the upgradation process.
