Raipur, December 12, 2024: At least seven Maoists were killed today in a fierce gun battle with the security forces in Bastar region of Chhattisgarh, a senior police officer said.
“So far seven bodies of Maoists, who were in their uniform, have been recovered during search operations,” Bastar Range Inspector General of Police P Sunderraj told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com.
Since past midnight 3 AM an exchange of fire was going on in the dense forested area of Bastar region, he said.
The location of the gun battle is the junction area of the districts Dantewada, Bastar, Kondagaon and Narayanpur, the IGP added.

On credible intelligence, a joint police party of Special Task Force (STF), Central Para Military Forces (CRPF) and District Reserve Guard (DRG) were dispatched to the South Abujhmad area, where the Maoists opened fire on the forces at about 3 AM today (Thursday) and since then exchange of fire is continuing, the senior police officer said.
“Seven bodies have been recovered so far and the toll might go up,” Sunderraj said, adding no one was dead or injured from the forces.
“Reinforcement has been rushed to the encounter site and amidst firing search operation is continuing in the area,” he said.
