     Raipur, April 28, 2025: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai today directed the Urban Administration and other departments of the state to develop an online system by 2026 for the collection of property tax in all urban bodies like Raipur Municipal Corporation.

     Chief Minister Sai, while emphasising on developing an online system for the collection of property tax in other urban bodies like Raipur Municipal Corporation, said that with this people will be able to deposit property tax from mobile or computer sitting at home or from their workplace, which will increase revenue collection.

     While reviewing the works of the Urban Administration Department in the Secretariat, the Chief Minister directed the departmental officers to prepare a system for depositing property tax online in all the bodies in the next one year.

     Along with this, Sai also asked to link the system of making home delivery documents under the Mor Sangwari scheme with the Digi-Locker of the Central Government.

    With this, the documents of the citizens will be permanently safe in their Digi-Locker. This will also reduce the expenditure of running the scheme, the Chief Minister said.

     In the meeting, the Chief Minister also reviewed the progress of the major works being done by the Urban Administration department. The Chief Minister also enquired about the progress of the Central and State Government projects and programmes and asked for details about the priorities of the current financial year.

     Deputy Chief Minister – Urban Administration Arun Sao and Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain were also present in the review meeting.

      Sai instructed the officials in the meeting to prepare an action plan to ensure water supply in the cities as per the requirement of the next ten years and work on it.

     He asked to make gardens on priority in the new residential areas being developed in the outer areas of the cities, so that children can play and the elderly can have access to a place for walking, jogging, yoga and physical exercise as well as entertainment.

     The Chief Minister instructed to implement the Atal Vishwas Patra on priority in all the urban bodies.

     Sai asked the officials to improve the current ranking of cleanliness released by the Government of India by improving the cleanliness system in all the cities. Along with increasing public participation to make cities beautiful and clean, he asked to send Municipal Corporation Commissioners to cities with better sanitation system like Indore for study.

     While reviewing the works of the Urban Administration Department, Sai asked to develop basic urban facilities in rural areas adjacent to the urban population by coordinating with other departments. This will help in developing systems and public facilities according to the cities when the adjacent rural areas join the urban body in the near future or come into existence as a new urban body, he added.

     The Chief Minister, while emphasizing on completing the construction works within the time limit with quality, suggested to create a reward system for the bodies completing the work within the stipulated time period. He asked to prepare an app or online system for effective monitoring of the progress of construction and development works.

     Deputy Chief Minister-Urban Administration Arun Sao told in the meeting that due to inspection of cleanliness and development works every morning by the Commissioners of Municipal Corporations and Chief Municipal Officers of Nagar Palikas and Nagar Panchayats along with the officials of the body performances of the urban bodies have improved.

     This has tightened the work of the department and regular monitoring of the progress of construction works and cleanliness is being done, Sao said.

     In all the urban bodies, the process of revision of set-up and classification of bodies is being done as per the current needs.

     With a provision of Rs 500 crore Chief Minister Nagarothan Yojana is being started this year to speed up big developmental works as per the requirements of cities and their future needs.

     In the meeting, Chief Minister Sai reviewed the infrastructure in urban bodies, the progress of works under construction under the 15th Finance Commission and state-sponsored schemes and the works of SUDA (State Urban Development Agency).

     He also reviewed the progress of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), PM Swanidhi, Amrit Mission and Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) as well as Atal complexes and Nalanda complexes being built in various bodies.

     Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Subodh Kumar Singh, Secretaries to Chief Minister P Dayanand, Rahul Bhagat and Dr Basavaraju S, Director R Ekka, Deputy Secretary Dr Renuka Srivastava and CEO of SUDA Shashank Pandey were also present in the review meeting.
