Raipur, May 21, 2025: At least 27 Maoists and one security force were killed today in a fierce gun battle in Narayanpur district in Bastar region of Chhattisgarh, a top police officer.
Among the killed might be some top Maoists commanders.
“After a fierce gun battle police have recovered 27 bodies of Maoists from the forestry area of Abujhmad forest,” Inspector General of Police of Bastar region Sundarraj P said.
In a specific intelligence input of presence of “top commanders” of Maoist organisation, security forces raided the forestry area, the top police officer said.
After the fierce gun battle forces have recovered 27 bodies and huge amount of weapons and explosives materials, he said.
In the encounter one of the security forces have also been killed, Sundarraj added.
Only after the bodies are identified which level commanders are killed will be known, another top police officer Vivekananda Sinha said.
Police are suggesting that some top most commanders from the Maoists organization have been killed in the encounter. However, after the identification they wanted to confirm other details.
