Raipur, August 05, 2025: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai today directed the concerned officials to encourage the Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme to move Chhattisgarh towards pollution-free electricity.
The Chief Minister said that the objective of the Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme is to make consumers self-reliant in the field of electricity and reduce the monthly electricity bill by installing solar power plants as per the requirement in every house to make maximum use of solar energy.
Under the scheme, for setting up rooftop solar power plants from one watt to three kilowatts, a subsidy of Rs 45,000 per watt and Rs 1.8 lakh per three kilowatt will be given by the Central and State Government.
Chief Engineer Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Limited Raipur informed that to promote the use of renewable energy under the Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme, all the regular officers, employees of Chhattisgarh State Electricity Company are advised to install rooftop solar power plants in their residential premises.
There is a provision to provide grants ranging from Rs 45,000 to Rs 1,80,000 for solar plants in the form of central and state financial assistance.
He said that officers and employees should ensure that rooftop solar plants are installed in their own residential premises.
Officers and employees who are living in board quarters, rented houses or multi-storey buildings can install rooftop solar power plants on their own or ancestral houses located in their hometown (Chhattisgarh state). Officers and employees living in multi-storey buildings can apply in coordination with residential society members through virtual net metering.
Under the scheme, grants ranging from Rs 45,000 to Rs 1,80,000 will be given by the central and state governments for setting up rooftop solar power plants from one watt to three kilowatts.
Chief Engineer Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Limited said that the bank will provide loan facility for 10 years at an interest rate of 6 per cent to the officers and employees for setting up rooftop solar power plants of capacity ranging from one watt to three kilowatts, whose EMI amount is less than the normal monthly bill.
He has requested the officers and employees to install rooftop solar plants in their premises within 3 months, otherwise the facility of special concession in electricity bill being given by the power company will be considered to be withdrawn.
