Raipur, August 13, 2025: The Central Government has invited online applications for the Padma Awards till August 15, 2025 on the Government of India’s Award portal.
Citizens of India, who have done remarkable work in fields such as social service, environmental protection, sports, art and culture, science and technology and have performed excellently at the national or international level, they can apply online for the Padma Awards till August 15, 2025 on the Government of India’s portal Awards.gov.in (https://awards.gov.in), official sources said today.
One of India’s highest civilian honours, the Padma Awards are announced every year on the eve of Republic Day.
These awards are given in three categories: Padma Vibhushan for exceptional and distinguished service; Padma Bhushan for distinguished service of higher level and Padma Shri for distinguished service in any field.

The achievements of the person selected for these awards should reflect the spirit of public service.
Eligibility
Any person is eligible for these awards without any discrimination of caste, occupation, position or sex. However, Government servants working in public sector undertakings, except doctors and scientists, are not eligible for these awards.
This award is given to recognize distinguished work and is given for distinguished and exceptional achievements, services in all activities, disciplines. The detailed list of these fields is as follows:
Arts – It includes music, painting, sculpture, photography, cinema, theatre etc.
Social Work – It includes social and charitable services in the field of affordable healthcare and education, other contributions to community projects like environment, sanitation etc.
Public Affairs – It includes work in the field of law, public life, politics etc.
Science and Engineering – It includes space engineering, nuclear science, information technology, research and development in science and its allied subjects etc.
Trade and Industry – It includes trade and business in the fields of banking, economic activities, management, manufacturing, hospitality, technology, textiles, accounting, finance, tourism etc.
Medicine – It includes medical research and specialization/expertise in allopathy, Ayurveda, homeopathy, Siddha, naturopathy etc.
Literature and Education – It includes promotion of literacy and education, education reforms, teaching, journalism, literature and poetry, authorship etc.
Civil Services – It includes distinction/excellence in administration etc. by government servants
Sports – It includes sports, athletics, mountaineering, promotion of sports etc.
Others – It includes fields which are not included in the above fields. These may include spirituality, yoga, wild life conservation, culinary arts, agriculture, grassroots innovation, archaeology, architecture etc.
Posthumous Cases
This award is not given posthumously. However, in extremely deserving and rare cases, the government may consider conferring a posthumous award.
Eligibility for higher grade of Padma Awards
A person can be awarded a higher grade of Padma Award only if at least five years have elapsed since the last Padma Award was conferred on him/her. However, exceptions may be made by the Awards Committee in cases of rare and extremely exceptional achievements.
